Great turnout at GrindTec 2018

Successful GrindTec 2018

We enjoyed another successful GrindTec in 2018 and we’re delighted to have welcomed a huge number of visitors to our stand to find out more about our latest grinding innovations for the engineered market from Norton and Norton Winter.

Check out our video from the show and hear from some of our experts:

We were one of over 600 exhibitors at the fair this year, which attracted over 19,000 visitors from 66 countries, the most international show ever. Overall the mood seemed buoyant, with many of our customers experiencing an uptick in business as the market continues to grow. The spotlight at the show shone once again on Industry 4.0 and how this will be implemented in our markets, as well as the perennial debate around the internal combustion engine vs electric motors as we as an industry continue to strive for the best solution to both challenges.

Latest innovations

The highlight of the show was most certainly our innovation wall, which showcased our latest product launches to tackle the challenges our customers face. Innovations such as Norton Winter AEON, our electroplated grinding wheels, Norton Vitrium3 technology and the Norton Xtrimium gear platform caught the attention of many visitors who were eager to find out more about how we could help them benefit from these developments in grinding technology.

There was also great interest in our full range of products a wide variety of applications, from grinding and dressing to finishing and polishing. Saint-Gobain Abrasives supports six key markets, Tools, Gears, Aerospace, Bearing, Automotive and General Engineering, with solutions that can reduce costs while delivering improved performance.

Norton expertise

Our resident expert, Dr Stefan Bohr, Director Application Engineering in Europe, gave two talks at the GrindTec forum: ‘Development in gear grinding – maximum performance, but not at any price’ and ‘Grinding replaces machining’ to share our expertise and spark debate with attendees. Both presentations were very well received and stirred up even more interest in our solutions with a number of visitors. We’re already looking ahead to the next GrindTec in Augsburg, which is scheduled for 18-21 March 2020 – we look forward to seeing you there!
